Kad manās rokās nonaca grāmata 100 New Fashion Designers, pat nenojautu, ka uz vairākām nedēļām burtiski pazudīšu tajā. Jo šī skaistā grāmata ir domāta nevis laiskai pāršķirtīšanai, bet gan kārtīgam izpētes darbam!
Grāmats autors, modes žurālists Hywel Davies “drēbi” patiešām parzina līdz pēdejai vīlei. Viņš ir gan vairāku modes grāmatu autors, gan regulārs sleju autors Vogue, ELLE, Wallpaper un citos kulta modes/dzīvesstila žurnālos. When I got the book 100 New Fashion Designers it was clear for me that I will get lost for weeks in there. This book is meant for accurate reaserch work and not for lazy run over!
The author of the book Fashion reporter Hywel Davies knows the „clothe” until the very bottom. He is the author of many fashion books and a regular column author in Vogue, ELLE, Wallpaper and other fashion and lifestyle journals. He has raised a quite complicated task in his book – discover 100 new fashion talents so to define what is the new fashion generation and what will they offer to the world for the next decade. He has carefully selected innovators, bright personalities that have already brought the storm in the mecca of the fashion world with their achievements.
100 New Fashion Designers was first published in 2008 but today published in a smaller and much convenient format. It was so necessary for this book. Because as I mentioned before the book isn’t meant for running over it and aleaving at a coffee table although each page of it is like a small master piece. It is necessary to read each designers description and look the page on Internet in order to get oriented in 100 talents. It is possible to evaluate in the page recent collections and artists’ fantasy flight. It is interesting that many of designers have already made captivating blogs where they write about own inspirations, share with design drafts and open in different creative ways.
Since 2008 when the stream of fashion changed also new generation faces changed. All designers mentioned in the book aren’t the future face but nowadays. It is the rough fashion world where today is already yesterday that demands new „blood” all the time and only the strongest survive. Looking for information on Internet about all designers mentioned in the book it turned out that many of fashion designers have left active stage and do not offer their collections. But some of them like Danish designer Henrik Vibskov (www.henrikvibskov.com) are brightly shining in the sky. He has been considered the main Danish fashion leader in the world who turns up bravely and with a newapproach.
This book is like a small sample for those who live and breathe fashion. You may look in there when crises of creativity has shown up or when it seems that we have nothing to wear. When all seems boring and a fresh air is needed. Here are hundreds of ideas that will inspire and bring back energy for big plans.
