Like Traveling Home

I wake up refreshed and reenergized, take my doggy Maxim (who just woke up in his fabulous dog bed, stretching his legs), and we go for a morning run. The city of Düsseldorf is just waking up. As we run through the quiet streets and parks, we see the sunrise that feels magical. Once back in our spacious room, I take a shower using my favorite natural bath products ‘Stop The Water While Using Me,’ and then I’m finally ready for a delicious breakfast. Freshly squeezed orange juice, an omelette, cottage cheese, and yogurt with fruit — the perfect combination for strength for the upcoming day full of walking.

I really almost forgot that I’m at a hotel, not at home. 25hours Hotel Das Tour in Dusseldorf is one of my favorite places to stay in this beautiful city. Just a 10 minute walk to the historical center, however, the location itself is in a nice, upcoming area where you can see a lot of newly built modern apartment buildings and a large park just in front of the hotel door. The hotel gives this youthful area an additional twist. But most importantly, the hotel is dedicated to the French vibe, with The Paris Club restaurant and Tour de France photography book in the rooms. You almost want to greet everybody with “Bonjour” and look for freshly baked croissants. And you’ll find them in the French cafe just downstairs. To burn all those extra calories, I grab the tour map with the hotel’s suggestions for the best spots in the city, and head out for an amazing day (or rent a bike and explore the city on two wheels).

But how the 25hours Hotel concept really steals my heart, is the friendly attitude to four legged friends every time I stay in one of their hotels. I travel mostly with my dog Maxim, and every time he gets the royal treatment — starting with a super comfy dog bed and ending with bowls full of treats. And he loves the common area, where he can just sleep as I sip on coffee. I quietly sit and read the latest newspaper which is filled with amazing interviews about trendy architects and designers, as well as shares the hidden gems of the city.
